Looking back on some of the most memorable tennis tournaments held in Bali.
Please feel free to send us some photos and details from those tournaments you particpated in.

With one exception we held the tournament under my tenor as Tournament Director always in May, when the weather in Bali was very supportive for an outdoor event. A specialty of the annual event was, that we received a big support from the local business community. Since it was a Charity event where all proceeds from entry fees were handed over by the Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua’s signature program to the Charity network of “Yayasan Senyum Bali”, which funded numerous Cleft Lip & Palate Operations.

The Rotary Club Nusa Dua states on their actual webpage of 2023 following: “Since Rotary Year 1994-1995 RCBND has provided more than 2,000 operations to underprivileged children and young adults on Bali and surrounding islands, at a total cost to date of over IDR 8 billion.” ...read more here.

The Rotary Tennis Tournament featured Open-, Amateur-, Junior- and Senior Divisions, played in Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles draws. During the steady growth in player entries, the tournament had to spread its matches starting at two sites to five sites in the Nusa Dua area. Only in the 2007 tournament the tennis courts of the Canggu Club (now Finns Recreation Club) were used too. All Semi finals and Finals were played at the 4 outdoor courts of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua. Which then concluded there with the prize giving ceremony to hand out well over 50 give away prizes to the lucky winners of the players favorite Lucky Draw. Prizes like higher value hotel vouchers and airline tickets were auctioned out to increase the proceeds of the event for the named charity organization.

From 1991 to 2013 the tournament was held at:

After the 2010 tournament, the Rotary Club Nusa Dua decided to go a new path without my support, despite my proven success record.
Meanwhile I had the pleasure to helm one more Rotary Tournament in 2011, Sponsored by the Rotary Club Benoa and Melia Bali.  Jim Boyles (GM of Melia Bali) and his team were incredible generous and helpful in their support. Proceeds of the Rotary Club Benoa tournament was donated to the “ BALI KIDS FOUNDATION locally known as YAYASAN ANAK-ANAK BALI ”,

Like in the years between 2002 and 2010, I could count again on the support of Tennis Coaches  Peter Schoolkate  and Brad Millman from Perth (Australia). Peter and Brad supported the tournament by organizing large groups of players from Perth to holiday in Bali and play in the tournament.

During its 20+ years in existence, the Rotary Tennis Tournament was Bali's most popular amateur tennis event.
